Chocolate Chip Pretzel Cookie Recipe

I came across this pretzel cookie recipe awhile back and finally decided to make them.  I loved the way they turned out.  They had some texture but were soft at the same time.  We really enjoyed the taste that the pretzels added to the recipe.  Several people tried them and liked them but none of them were able to identify that it was pretzels that were added to the chocolate chip recipe.

What I really liked about this recipe is the cookies tasted good not only freshly baked but a few days later as well. I find some cookies don’t taste nearly as well two or three days later but this is not one of those recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup margarine/butter at room temperature
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons of Molasses
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups of crushed pretzels (I like to use the thin ones to crush)
  • 2 1/2 cups of flour
  • 1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips

Directions:

  1. Mix together the butter, sugar, and molasses.
  2. Add the vanilla and eggs to your batter and mix well.
  3. Then I sprinkled the baking soda over the batter and added the two cups of crushed pretzels and mixed it up again.
  4. Add 1/2 the flour and mix, then add the 2nd half and mix thoroughly.
  5. Then end add your chocolate chips and mix it up a final time.
  6. Bake at 350 for 10 to 11 minutes and a greased cookie sheet.  Be sure and check them after 9 or so because the larger you make your cookies the longer they need to bake. My batch made about 5 dozen cookies.
