The Bill of Rights consists of the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution. It was put in place to guarantee essential civil rights and civil liberties to the individual and to reserve powers not delegated to the Federal Government to the people and/or states.
The Bill of Rights was drafted separately from the from the seven articles that form the body of the Constitution.
