What Is the Third Amendment to the Constitution of the United States?

The quartering of soldiers in private homes – 1791

“No Soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the Owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.”

The government did quarter soldiers during the War of 1812 and the Civil War.
